Flank steak is a great grilling meat, because it has thin streaks of that melt during the grilling process, filling the meat with all the flavor of its characteristic juices. Here’s a basic marinade for flank steak that can be done on an outdoor electric grill. You’re going to love this recipe and you’ll probably write it down on your ‘do again’ list!

Pro tip: If you have some marinade leftover from this recipe, store it in the fridge and use it to marinate chicken or other grilled meats. The marinade can last for up to a week in the fridge.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 4 smashed garlic cloves
  • 1 1/2 pound flank steak
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mix together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, ground pepper and garlic in a sealable bag and then add the flank steak.

2. Place the sealed bag in a dish and leave in the fridge for approximately 3 hours.

3. Remove the dish from the fridge and remove the steak from the bag. Grill the steak for around 6 minutes on each side or until it’s as cooked as you desire.

4. Remove the steak from the grill. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then cut it into lean slices in a diagonal across the grain. Serve and enjoy.
